Alex is an experienced Technology Media and Telecommunications (TMT) and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) lawyer, and one of ALB’s Super 50 TMT Lawyers.
He represents a range of local and international companies in the technology sector and businesses with their digital initiatives and products, including companies in regulated sectors such as banking, payments and telecommunications. He provides clients with guidance on matters touching on data protection, artificial intelligence, intellectual property, Fintech, e-commerce, advertising and marketing, information technology and telecommunications as well as other topics within the gamut of TMT/ICT.
The assistance he provides includes:
1. Navigating legal and regulatory matters in connection with data and digital technologies, including addressing novel issues in emerging technologies and digital policy considerations;
2. Negotiating and drafting multifaceted technology and business agreements; and
3. Managing incidents and handling interactions, such as data breaches and government and regulatory queries and responses.
Alex completed his law degree in Singapore before pursuing a Masters degree in Law, Science and Technology at Stanford Law School. He is dual-qualified in both Singapore and California and was previously a lawyer at Baker McKenzie.Wong&Leow and Drew & Napier in Singapore. He has also worked for several technology companies in Singapore and US, including PayPal and Xilinx.
He acts as a Senior Advisor to Flint Global on matters of digital and regulatory policy and an Advisor to the AI Asia Pacific Institute on AI-related policy and governance matters.
He is a certified Data and Digital Economy Specialist by the Singapore Academy of Law, a certified AI Ethics & Governance Professional by the Singapore Computer Society and a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Alex also holds a computer science diploma.
His industry appointments include Executive Committee Member of the AI Ethics & Governance Chapter of the Singapore Computer Society and a member of various technology-related practice committees of the Law Society of Singapore.
